Institute for Health Services Research in Dermatology and Nursing (IVDP)

About the partner

The Institute for Health Services Research in Dermatology and Nursing (IVDP) at the University Medical Center Hamburg-Eppendorf (UKE) is an interdisciplinary, multi-professional research institute focusing on health care research, clinical research and health economics.

In the context of observation and intervention studies, the working group "Preventive Medicine and Nutrition" deals with the importance of nutritional factors and lifestyle in healthy people of different age groups, in individuals with increased risk and in patients already at risk.

The focus is on diabetes prevention, metabolic syndrome, cardiovascular and oncological diseases.

Since 2013 there has been a scientific cooperation with the project partner ZfAM as part of the planning and implementation of the SeaNut Study (Seafarer Nutrition Study), from which the e-healthy ship project will benefit.

Role in the project

Within the framework of e-healthy ship, the IVDP takes over the survey and culturally sensitive evaluation of on-board food and nutritional behaviour of the crew on board (work package 3).

In addition, the IVDP is developing measures for behavioural prevention. The on-board environment is to be designed in such a way that impulses for a healthier choice of food (nudging approach) are set without restricting the individual's freedom of choice. The main aim here is to make healthier meals and beverages more visible and easily accessible in a visually appealing form.
