The requirements for the software to be developed and to be tested under real conditions next year were specified more and more precisely by the project partners in the course of the year - also thanks to the collaboration with the cooperation partners. In the process, a division of the software into two parts turned out to be useful.

One part of the software is produced by the project partner Hanseaticsoft, which set up an e-healthy ship test platform for use on board in the middle of the year. The platform was diligently checked by the partners with regard to user-friendliness and functionality; numerous optimizations have already been made. The last changes should be implemented by the beginning of 2020.

The second part of the electronic health platform consists of the e-learning environment for the crew on board. This service had to be tendered separately, which proved to be complex and time-consuming. Since autumn 2019, the contracted service provider has been working on the design of the Moodle e-learning platform and is currently making final adjustments to the technology and layout.

At the same time, the project partner ZfAM has developed the health content for the e-learning platform and, together with the IVDP, has made decisive progress. Among other things, daily tips on fitness, sleep and nutrition were prepared for a period of three months.

In addition, important framework structures for the project were secured - for example, aspects of data protection, a second proposal to the ethics committee, or procurements of screens and sports equipment by Reederei Döhle and Reederei Roth for the implementation of the intervention phase.

Speaking of the intervention phase: In 2020, everything will focus on the organisation of the repeated sea journeys. Therefore, the current positions of the individual test ships are closely being monitored. We will keep you up to date and inform you when the team is going to return on board.

By the way: The e-healthy ship project was presented to the expert public - at the 15th International Symposium on Maritime Health (ISMH) and at the Summer of Knowledge at the University of Hamburg in June 2019.
